About Calorie Captain

Meet the Captain

Hi my friends! John Michael here. I created Calorie Captain as an outlet to educate the public about weight loss and to share tips and my own recipes to help others live a healthy life.

High school years were NOT my best years. I was tipping the scales at 270 pounds. I had zero motivation. I was shy, and quite frankly, I hated my body.

I felt like I would never get in into shape. I knew nothing and not a clue on how to start.

One day, a spark lit up within me and I wanted to change for the better.

I was sick of not being able to jog two blocks without being so out of breath I could barely speak. I knew something had to change.

I really got serious and did manage to get myself into great shape and lose weight by learning to not think of it as a hassle, but a hobby that I learned to love.

Soon, I was addicted to striving for health. I realized I had a calling to help others and I enjoy making others feel better in any way that I can, so I worked by tail off to become a registered nurse.

After weight loss

During nursing school, I lost my focus on my own health. I started making excuses. “I didn’t have time.” “I was too busy.” “I will start again next week.” Sound familiar? It is easy to fall back into that trap, especially when stress comes knocking. After the stress of school was over, here I was again, back where I started.

I went back to my proven strategy again and got back into shape for the second time. This just goes to show that anything is possible when you have the desire and the tools you need to achieve it.

When working in the healthcare field, it is distressing to see the impact that poor health has on our bodies when we don’t take care of them like we should.

We are only given one body and if we take care of it, it will take care of us.

After I lost my father to cancer in 2016, I wanted to be more vocal about the importance of achieving and maintaining your optimal health. That is why I am here, because I care about helping others to learn how to live a long, healthy life and show them that it doesn’t have to be hard.

Improving your health seems like it is the hardest task in the world, but it doesn’t have to be.

Whether your goal is to shed body fat, gain muscle, or both, you have the ability to do it. You just have to tap into your true potential.

I learned to lose weight and build muscle while also enjoying all of the foods that I love. I believe that if you start to have a negative relationship with food and exercise, you are not going to have a very positive experience.

I can show you how to lose weight and get healthy, all while eating the foods that you love, and NEVER feel deprived or restricted.

I can’t wait to share some of my favorite recipes that take foods everyone loves but then puts a lower calorie spin on them so you can still enjoy them and never feel like you’re missing out.

I am so excited to share with you everything that I know.
